<p>Healthy eating means using fresh ingredients and gentle cooking methods without adding any artificial ingredients and fats. Healthy eating requires a lot of cooking, since take-out food often contains too many refined fats and artificial seasonings. However, with modern appliances you will discover that cooking is no longer an annoying chore reserved for special occasions, but an exciting part of everyday life. </p>
<p>So which products should we buy when we actually decide to begin eating healthy food? Heres what your weekly shopping list should include. </p>
<p>Vegetables. All vegetables should be eaten young, when they are tender and not coarse. Vegetables are best bought from fresh food markets or seasonal, when they are sold in boxes or baskets. Losing weight, staying healthy and getting back into shape after many years of diet neglect is not about fads or eating in some radical new way for six to twelve weeks and then going back to the way you used to eat.</p>
<p>The best thing you can do to keep yourself healthy is to eat a healthy diet<b>all the time</b>, not just when you want to lose weight. Eating healthy is a long-term lifestyle choice, something you need to do for your entire lifetime.</p>
<p>But what is a healthy diet? Is it what we have been lead to believe  milk for strong bones and teeth, protein in the form of lean beef or chicken and maybe a healthy microwave dinner if we are on the go. Unfortunately this diet is what is identified as the Standard American Diet or the SAD.</p>

<p>Other pertinent questions about your health beg for answers such as, why after more than 30 years since the War On Cancer was declared, do we still have an increasing cancer rate. Yes, we have many more people <b>surviving</b> cancer but the rate at which people are <b>getting</b> cancer is increasing. We have come a long way in taking care of sick people, but we haven&#8217;t made any progress as a nation in preventing those people from getting sick.</p>
<p>Why do more than 15 million people in the United States have diabetes? Why do we still have more heart problems today than we did 30 years ago? Why is more than 50% of our population on some kind of prescription drug?</p>
<p>We spend more per person on medical care than any other nation in the world. Why is this happening in a country that seems to be able to solve nearly any technological problem? Why can&#8217;t we solve our medical problems? How would life be different for us if we were to be a nation of healthy individuals?</p>
<p><b>The secret to a healthy diet and a healthy life is living food</b>  fresh vegetables, fruit, juices and green leafy salads. The answer to a healthier you is summed up in three words, breakfast, lunch and dinner.</p>

What people need to realize is that staying active and eating right are critical for long-term health and wellness &#8212; and that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. </p>
<p>The more you know about how your body responds to your lifestyle choices, the better you can customize a nutrition and exercise plan that is right for you. When you eat well, increase your level of physical activity, and<br />
exercise at the proper intensity, you are informing your body that you want to burn a substantial amount of fuel. This translates to burning fat more efficiently for energy.</p>
<p>In other words, proper eating habits plus exercise equals fast metabolism, which, in turn gives you more energy throughout the day and allows you to do more physical work with less effort.</p>

one-two punch, incorporating aerobic exercise to burn fat and deliver more oxygen, and resistance training to increase lean body mass and burn more calories around the block.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s a sample exercise program that may work for you:</p>
<p>* Warm Up &#8212; seven to eight minutes of light aerobic activity intended to increase blood flow and lubricate and warm-up your tendons and joints.</p>
<p>* Resistance Training &#8212; Train all major muscle groups. One to two sets of each exercise. Rest 45 seconds between sets.</p>
<p>* Aerobic Exercise &#8212; Pick two favorite activities, they could be jogging, rowing, biking or cross-country skiing, whatever fits your lifestyle. Perform 12 to 15 minutes of the first activity and continue with 10 minutes of the<br />
second activity. Cool down during the last five minutes.</p>
<p>* Stretching &#8212; Wrap up your exercise session by stretching, breathing deeply, relaxing and meditating.</p>
<p>When starting an exercise program, it is important to have realistic expectations. Depending on your initial fitness level, you should expect the following changes early on.</p>
<p>* From one to eight weeks &#8212; Feel better and have more energy.</p>
<p>* From two to six months &#8212; Lose size and inches while becoming leaner. Clothes begin to fit more loosely. You are gaining muscle and losing fat.</p>
<p>* After six months &#8212; Start losing weight quite rapidly.</p>
<p>Once you make the commitment to exercise several times a week, don&#8217;t stop there. You should also change your diet and/or eating habits,&#8217; says Zwiefel. Counting calories or calculating grams and percentages for certain nutrients is<br />
impractical. Instead, I suggest these easy-to-follow guidelines:</p>
<p>* Eat several small meals (optimally four) and a couple of small snacks throughout the day</p>
<p>* Make sure every meal is balanced &#8212; incorporate palm-sized proteins like lean meats, fish, egg whites and dairy products, fist-sized portions of complex carbohydrates like whole-wheat bread and pasta, wild rice, multigrain cereal and potatoes, and fist-sized portions of vegetable and<br />
fruits</p>
<p>* Limit your fat intake to only what&#8217;s necessary for adequate flavour</p>
<p>* Drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water throughout the day</p>
<p>* I also recommend that you take a multi-vitamin each day to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.</p>
<p>I suppose that&#8217;s all I can think of for now. I should extend my thanks to a doctor friend of mine. Without him, I wouldn&#8217;t be able to write this article, or keep my sanity.</p>

Yet when it comes to going to gym or getting physical, you can easily come up with at least 10 different reasons why youre either too busy or just dont have the time to break a sweat.</p>
<p>Making fitness part of your life should be a priority in everyones life &#8212; it should become a daily habit, the same as brushing your teeth or taking a shower. Setting aside one hour of your day isnt much to ask when you take into account all the positive things you achieve just by being physically fit.</p>
<p>Apart from looking and feeling good, working out can benefit you in the following areas as well:</p>
<p>* Help to relieve stress, depression and anxiety<br />
* Increase your ability to concentrate, think faster and become more sharp<br />
* Help reduce blood pressure<br />
* Lower the risk of developing colon cancer<br />
* Keep your heart healthy and reduce the risk of heart disease<br />
* Help with gaining muscle, which can build and maintain strong bones<br />
* Increase flexibility, which can help prevent injury and help with muscular tension. </p>
<p>So next time you put off going to the gym, stop and think about all the benefits youre missing out on. Just 30 minutes to an hour of physical fitness a day can be a major health investment. And remember you dont have to be in a gym to be fit. You can enjoy fitness with your kids, your spouse, family or friends by coming up with fun, physical activities such as going for walks, swimming, mountain biking, hiking or playing golf to mention a few.</p>

<p>There are many great fitness plans out there that can help you get into shape and enjoy fitness, but there are also many scams that promise you the world and dont deliver. If you have spare cash on hand, get in touch with a personal trainer at your gym and take up a few sessions or visit a biokinetisist who will help you with your goals. You can also browse the Internet for reputable sites for information.</p>
<p>KICK START YOUR FITNESS PLAN</p>
<p>If youre a beginner into the world of fitness, ease into a routine by starting off slowly and gradually increase your endurance level. If you go all out on the first day, chances are youll burn out and overwork yourself to the extent that youll be put off fitness forever. If youre a newbie, also remember that it takes time to get into a fitness routine and the only way to reach your ideal level is be consistent and stick with the program.</p>
<p>MAKE TIME</p>
<p>The best way to ensure that you avoid the excuses-zone is to make a habit of getting your workouts done first thing in the morning. Set your alarm to wake up an hour earlier, get to the gym and from there, you can shower and head for work. By doing your workout in the morning you are more likely to put it off later due to tiredness (or laziness), plus research has shown that you burn more fat if you do your cardio sessions first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This article is about weight loss and how to live a more healthy life, I hope you find it interesting to read and beneficial. I have had a lot of problems with my weight over the years and by the age of twenty-two had had enough of being obese. In the article I write about how I eventually lost my excess pounds.</p>
<p>I have always struggled to keep my weight under control. Being over-weight affected my whole life, I was unable to wear the clothes I wanted to and I often felt guilty after eating certain foods. I was adamant that if only I could lose a couple of stones my confidence would increase and that I would ultimately be a lot happier.</p>
<p>I read many books and attempted to follow a range of diets. For whatever reason this did not seem to help me, mainly because I could not stick to their weight loss programs due to my love of fatty foods.</p>
<p>One day I was talking to a neighbour who was not only very nice but also quite thin. She looked very fit and healthy and I enquired as to how she kept so trim.</p>
<p>This neighbour who is called Gillian seemed quite taken aback and even flattered by my question and went quite coy. She stated that at one point in her life, she had also had a weight problem and had not been happy about it. What she was about to say was quite a shock to me, however would eventually change my life.</p>
<p>She went on to say that wherever she went to at this stage of her life, she would travel to by car. Gillian had realised that in an average week, she did very little exercise and at times did none at all. She then went out and bought a dog and would take this pet for a walk at least twice a day. This was not a choir for Gillian and over the next few years even resulted in her meeting a number of new friends. Previously, Gillian had seen exercise as a hassle and very time consuming but on various days she would take her dog on four walks, she enjoyed it that much.</p>
<p>Gillian quickly noticed that not only was she losing weight but that she also felt a lot healthier. It was not long before she was at a weight she was happy with.</p>
<p>After listening to Gillian&#8217;s story I decided to follow her weight loss program. Yes I went and bought a dog and am happy to report that it has also worked for me.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The story of my health and wellness</p>
<p>For many years, my weight and consequently my health and well-being, were completely out of control and unmanageable. I tried numerous diet programs and never found one that worked to my satisfaction.   It wasnt until a Doctor, who eventually became a very close friend of mine, set up a program for me that worked extremely well.</p>
<p>It wasnt a program that was to quickly solve my weight and health problems, but it was and has been the greatest direction that I could have possibly chosen to take. I was overweight at 220 lbs. (Now Im 170 lbs and loving it) It used to be that I seldom did any exercise, even walking, as I just never had the energy &#8211; no ambition at all. I really was a couch potato and could barely find the energy to get up and go to work. The low energy levels affected both my work as well as my home life. My wife (being slim and active) was pretty much fed up with me.</p>
<p>I never thought it could be possible to change and be a happy, healthy and active person again, but was I ever wrong, as now I have achieved success in all these areas once more.<br />
My wife and I now have a renewed and wonderful life together, thank heavens. My children cant believe the change in me. Now you ask, HOW DID I ACCOMPLISH ALL THIS?</p>
<p>So what did I do to change my situation? With the direction from my Doctor friend, I changed my &#8211; DIET, LIFESTYLE, EXERCISE HABITS And all for the better. For many of you, time is fast running out.  To control your life, and lifestyle, you must make a choice &#8211; and not let life control you any longer.</p>
<p>While it may sound easy to some of you, in reality it really is not easy, as you do have some hard decisions to make if you are to be successful in improving your lives, as I was able to do.</p>
<p>To be successful in changing your lives, I think you all know that if you wait any longer, then at some point, for some of you, your problem could become irreversible, then it really will be too late.   Are you going to remain as you are, and choose to let life basically pass you by, or are you going to make the best decision you have ever made, and take control of your life from here on out?  The choice is yours and only yours, as no one can decide for you.The sooner you make a positive decision and stick to it, the sooner you will enjoy a &#8211; HAPPY and HEALTHY LIFE</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After diagnosing and in practicing the control of depression you will learn more about yourself than you ever have before in your life. From the psychological or psychiatric standpoint there will be a need to delve into the cause of your depression. Sometimes just understanding you arent able to handle a stressful situation or are not emotionally adapt at recovering from a relationship gone sour is enough to understand where depression begins. </p>
<p>Within the varying degrees of suffrage due to depression the extremes can be mind-boggling. There are people that cannot get out of bed or produce one happy or hopeful thought for months at a time. These episodes debilitate your social life and can even erode your personal life. If there are spouses, children, or parents who care about the person that suffers they can be directly or indirectly affected by the depression also. </p>
<p>Then there are the people that grow more than melancholy on occasion. Perhaps your life is merely temporarily off track, too many responsibilities have been laid at your feet, or you have experienced a devastating loss. These are elements that can cause a mild depression. And though it is not a depression that ceases all activities in your life that does not mean it should be taken lightly or ignored. </p>
<p>In order to eliminate or control stressful or depressing elements you must first recognize them as such. Awareness is one step, admitting you are depressed is another step and those two are difficult. Learning how to get your type of depression under control is the most difficult step of all. You must commit all energies toward healing. If you don feel capable then please engage a loved one to commit on your behalf. </p>
<p>It is possible to gain control of depression without medication. But if medication is required there should always be well thought out considerations of how medications will integrate into your life. You should always weigh the good and not so good aspects of being medicated. If you are a young parent or have serious obligations that need strict attention no matter the time of day, these are things you have to communicate with the professional that prescribes medication.</p>
<p>If you are not functioning in society at any level due to your depression then obviously medical intervention and prescription medicines are something you have to consider. If you only have periodic bouts of depression perhaps a more subtle approach will serve you well.</p>

<p>Prolonged anxiety which meddles with a person&#8217;s everyday life tells us that we are  now dealing with a condition called (anxiety disorder).<br />
Coping with excessive anxiety can be a struggle but with the right medical advice and help then this ailment which is associated with other psychiatric conditions such as depression can be tamed.<br />
In the UK 1 in 10 people battle to lead a normal life, the severity of anxiety powers is no doubt a mighty force  to contend with where the effects can turn a persons life upside down.</p>
<p>Anxiety that flares up with no identifying reason behind the cause has to be questioned. Strong/severe anxiety that tampers or interferes with daily routines- activities  is considered abnormal.</p>
<p>Symptoms to look out for with (Physical Anxiety) is dry mouth/diarrhoea/abdominal discomfort/breathlessness/fast heartbeat/problem swallowing/dizzy spells/ tightening of the chest. These are a result of when the brain sends out signals to other parts of the body while at the same time releasing stress hormones/adrenalin. Organs affected are lungs heart etc that are now geared up to work faster. </p>
<p>The fear of going mad and lack of concentration are two serious symptoms endured as well as insomnia and uncontrollable outbursts of rage- anger if suffering from psychological anxiety. </p>
<p>Medication and treatments like psychotherapy/ counselling and more are available.</p>
<p>Anxiety is treatable so please if you or someone close is having a bad time trying to cope with any of the symptons mentioned earlier then make an appointment to speak with your doctor.</p>

<p>Some people who suffer from anxiety may appear to look and do things a little differently to which an outsider may find funny, depending on the outsider of course. Because of their lack of understanding on this condition they find it hilarious to poke fun and make nasty remarks towards the person suffering from this condition causing more misery for the sufferer.</p>
<p>Yes I would say sufferers are mad, mad with the ignoramuses who continue to add to their torment.<br />
And saddened furthermore at how their tomentors proudly show their ignorance behind the meaning of the word compassion.</p>
